Congratulations on taking a positive approach to being a responsible dog owner.
Studies have shown that puppies who have attended puppy socialisation courses have a much brighter future; they are far more confident as adult dogs. Vets agree that they are easier to handle when being examined, confident when meeting other dogs, people and show fewer signs of anxiety when in new environments.
In the past training was only recommended for puppies over 6 months old, by then we have missed out on the window of opportunity which is 8-16 weeks old. Training can start at the breeder from as young as 3 weeks old! A puppy’s brain is like a ball of clay easy to shape, as they get older they become more difficult to shape this is why early training is so critical.
There are a few misconceptions about puppy socialisation, the one is that the puppies are put into an arena, left to rough and tumble and are expected to all get along. (Have you got along with everyone that you have met?)
Puppy socialisation is about teaching your puppy good manners and to behave in a socially acceptable manner.
